Kharon Chapter 27
Kiarah runs into the bridge where Luke is steering and yells, “We’re under attack!”
“What?! By who?”
Just then the ship is jolted violently as a massive object emerges from the depths of the waters right underneath the Kharon. The submarine like ship lifts the Kharon right out of the sea paralyzing it as it surfaces.
“Holy hell!”, screams Luke.
Kiarah pushes Luke aside and takes the controls and starts pulling levers and turning wheels. “Those bastards stole a move from our playbook.”
“Did you piss off another island nation?”
“This is a Quarsian ship. Every nation wants it regardless of what I did.”
“If this ship is so great why is it always in fucking trouble?”
Simone, Jacob, Emma and Sparky now enter the bridge wearing confusion and concern on their faces.
“What’s going on?”, asks Emma.
“Apparently we’re under attack, again”, says Luke.
“No shit”, says Jacob.
Simone walks over to the view screen and toggles through the images showing ships emerging from the ocean all around them. “The Sloons are attacking us? This little group I’ve fallen into really goes top shelf with their enemies. The Sloons are the only nation to have successfully merged magic and science.”
“Not helpful”, snaps Luke.
“Don’t worry I’m not letting those bastards get the best of me. Just hold onto something”, says Kiarah. With that she opens up the thrusters full force. She turns the laser guns down into the water below and opens fire. The water is heating up and the submarine is having trouble holding steady. It resubmerges into the water and the Kharon shoots off it and starts going full throttle towards the Sloon’s ships. She swerves and dodges enemy fire. It seems she has evaded them for a moment until a whirlpool begins forming around the Kharon. The Kharon is caught in it and being sucked down into the ocean.
“Dammit!”, cries Kiarah trying to steer out of the swirling currents.
“What dammit? What’s happening?”, yells Jacob.
“They opened up a whirlpool. This is going to get tricky”, says Kiarah.
“That’s not a fucking comforting statement”, says Jacob grabbing onto a railing for dear life.
