Kharon Chapter 45
Back on the ship Luke is in the weapons room strapping as much Quarsian weapons onto himself that he possibly can. Kiarah walks into the room followed by Sparky.
“You’re going to save them?”, inquires Kiarah.
“I guess they’re worth trying for.”
“You’ll never free them without Sparky.”
“Then I’ll take him with me.” Luke bends down to pick up Sparky but Sparky lets out a growl. “It’s okay fella. We’re going to go rescue Emma.” Sparky stops growling and jumps into Luke’s arms to Luke’s surprise.
“Then I should go too. I did promise Emma I would protect him and I always keep my promises.” Kiarah starts taking every weapon out of the room and rigging it to herself. A half smirk creeps onto Luke’s face as he watches her. “Get that damn smirk off your face before I rip your lips off.”
Kharon Chapter 46
Emma and Jacob are now inside the VR world of the colony each dressed in a one piece silver jumpsuit. They are being led to a large open pavilion in the center of the city by several people all dressed in black armor. They stop in front of eight citizens sitting on gilded golden thrones raised up on a large platform. All of the individuals on the thrones have a popularity gauge that is at 100%. Jacob and Emma are pushed before the platform and are suddenly broadcast on everyone’s screen.
One of the individuals on the throne speaks, “You two are charged with crimes against The Colony and will stand trial by The Colony. Please state your position regarding this.”
“Fuck off! We’re not even a part of your stupid colony!”, yells Emma.
“Way to win over the vote”, mocks Jacob.
“We just want our friend back”, Emma continues ignoring Jacob’s sarcasm.
Simone then comes pushing through the crowd of people gathered and runs up to Emma and Jacob. “Emma…Jacob? What in the indigo moon are you doing here?”
“We’re rescuing you. What did you think we were just going to let you get hauled away and trapped here forever.”
“As you can see we have hit a bit of a snag.”
“Fuck me! I’m not worth it”, says Simone shaking her head.
“I told you before. I’m tired of people being put in cages because they’re different.”
“Silence!”, says the eight judiciaries in unison. The lead one then speaks, “So it was because of you Simone Jacquinon that these two attacked. First you abandoned us and now you bring outsiders to harm us. Why do you do this to your home?”
“Because The Colony blows! I want to live life for real. To really experience things away from your control. This artificial world is bullshit!”
“Young lady we have done nothing but given you opportunity away from the pains of the real world. You dare turn your back on this gift?”
“Things are supposed to be painful and sloppy because that’s what’s real. This is a fucking joke!”
“You have nowhere near the popularity rating to say such things. Do you renounce your previous statements or stand trial for treason?”
“I don’t give a shit”, says Simone.
“As you wish”, says the eight judiciaries in unison.
Kharon Chapter 47
Kiarah and Luke are sneaking past the robots to the same building with the servers that Jacob and Emma snuck into during their rescue attempt. Sparky follows closely behind them. Kiarah is armed to the teeth with weapons.
“So what’s the plan? We gonna get Sparky to short out their systems?”, asks Luke.
“Their systems have too many failsafes.” Kiarah flings a sharp implement at a robot standing at a terminal and then quickly runs up and starts accessing the holographic interface searching for the pods that contain Jacob, Emma and Simone.
“Then what are we going to do?”
“I will locate the pods that the others are in. You will take Sparky to them to short out their power supply in order to disengage them from The Colony.”
“Won’t that just activate their security system, sending robots and drones swarming?”
“They will all be preoccupied with a major multi-level outage.”
Luke raises an eyebrow. “What outage?”

“This island has more than a few robots in case you haven’t noticed. They will only send a dozen or so to address that.”
“If the robots they send keep going offline then they will keep sending more.”
“What’s going to make them go offline?”
“Me.”
“Really? Your going to handle all these robots by yourself?”
Kiarah turns to Luke and gives him a stone cold stare. Luke raises his hands up in a surrendering gesture and says, “Bad ass Quarsian warrior I forgot.”
“I assume the two new unmarked additions are Jacob and Emma who got themselves caught. All three are in Quadrant four of the West building on level 23. Call signs Zeek, Boomra, Cadra.”
Luke nods. “Got it.”
Kiarah cracks open the casing of one of the servers and places the crystal inside it. She then picks up Sparky and holds him over the server. “Sparky, please assist me.” Sparky electrocutes the server which the crystal then refracts blowing a entire floor of servers. Kiarah then calmly places Sparky back on the ground. “I would move quickly.” With that Luke and Sparky run off. Robots and drones begin descending on Kiarah but she uses all her weapons to destroy them as they keep pouring in.
Kharon Chapter 48
Back in the The Colony Simone stands with Emma and Jacob before the eight throned individuals as they say in unison, “We find all three of you guilty of sedition against The Colony and therefore based on your standings level against you the most severe of penalties…excommunication.” The crowd gasps at this pronouncement.
Emma smiles. “That’s great! Now your finally free from this place.”
Simone frowns and shakes her head. “No one ever leaves The Colony.”
“But…” Before Emma can finish speaking everyone around her goes grey. Then everything fades to white. She is alone in a empty white space that goes on forever. A nothingness is now her home. She is all alone as she cries out, “NO!!!” She collapses to her knees and begins crying out, "Not again...please not again." Suddenly she awakes in a pod. She spits out her feeding tube and rips out her IV and sensors. She looks around and sees Luke standing over her. Before she can even think she jumps up and gives him a hug. Luke is caught off guard by this and doesn’t know how to react. Emma pulls away from him and says, “Let’s get the others.”
