Kharon Chapter 49
Kiarah is standing atop a pile of smoking robotic wreckage in the server room. Her weapons all gone except the spear-like one she always carries. She looks around her at all the destruction. “Not a bad...for robots.” She walks out of the warehouse.
Jacob, Emma, Sparky, Simone and Luke are running back to the ship. “Why are no robots coming after us?”, asks Jacob.
“Kiarah is keeping them busy.”
“Was keeping them busy”, says Kiarah now running alongside the others.
“Shit! Now we’re going to have robots on our asses!”, yells Luke.
“Nah, it’s taken care of.”
“All of them?!”, Luke blurts out in disbelief.
The whole gang is back on the bridge of the Kharon as the ship is departing The Colony. Simone though is still glowing an orange color as is Jacob and Emma now.
“We’re still tagged and we’re not out of range yet. Are you sure you took care of all the robots?’, asks Simone.
Just then an explosion erupts on The Colony and a huge fire begins burning sending plumes of smoke up in the air as towers and antennas start crumbling to the ground in the heat of the flames.
“What the hell is that?”, asks Jacob.
Emma shrugs. “You said to create a diversion.”
“When did you rig that?”
“While you were taking that shit break.”
“We could have been killed while in the pods”, cries Jacob.
“Without the robots no one is there to put out the fire. The whole island is likely to burn”, says Kiarah.
Simone stares at the view screen watching the blaze spreading across the island. “Good riddance.”
Emma sighs. “So that’s four islands we destroyed.”
Kharon Chapter 50
Jacob is lying in bed in his cabin room when he hears a soft knock on his door. “Come in”, he calls out. The door opens and Emma walks into the cabin closing the door behind her. “What’s up?”
Emma sits down next to Jacob who has now sat up on the bed. “You were pretty awesome on that island.”
“I didn’t do anything but get us caught.”
“You tried to do something plus you did save my life before we got put in the pods.”
“I guess there's that.”
“I just wanted to say thanks.” Emma then kisses Jacob much to Jacob’s surprise. But he goes with it. Emma then begins taking Jacob’s clothes off.
Jacob stops Emma and says, “Whoa am I dreaming?”
“Relax I think we both deserve a little fun don’t you? It’s not like I’m asking you to life-mate here.”
“Um…sure…I’m up for some fun.”
Emma smiles. “Good.” They then both lay down on the bed and continue.
Kharon Chapter 51
Luke is standing on the top deck of the Kharon watching the water lap against the side of the ship. Simone comes walking up to him and stands beside him gazing at the horizon for a moment. Finally she says, “Thanks for getting me out.”
Luke shrugs. “I wasn’t going to at first.”
“Its all right I didn’t expect you to.” The two continue to stare out at the sea for a few moments in silence. “I spent my whole life running from who I was. Trying to find something better.”
“I know what that’s like.”
“I know you do.” Simone then turns to walk away and as she does her hand rests on Luke’s hand for a small moment before she leaves him. He glances back towards Simone but she does not turn back to look at him and keeps on walking disappearing below deck. Luke turns back to the horizon to continue his solitary gazing.
Kharon Chapter 52
Back in Jacob’s cabin as both he and Emma climax they lock eyes. In that moment it seems like they are peering into each other’s souls. But soon after Emma gets a panicked look on her face. She scrambles out of bed as soon as they finish much to Jacob's confusion.
“I…uh….I gotta go but…..um….thanks for the fuck and all”, says Emma as she gathers her clothes and runs out of the room.
“Uh…yea sure….anytime”, mutters Jacob as he watches Emma leave. He then falls back on the bed and covers his face with his hands letting out a heavy sigh.
