Kharon Chapter 73
Jacob, Emma, Sparky and Luke climb down off the Kharon onto the ice island. They start walking around the ship, examining it. “It’s surrounded by ice. We’ll have to blast it out”, says Luke prepping his ray gun.
“Are you fucking crazy!? Do you know how long that will take?”
“You got any other ideas!?”
“I might if Kiarah was here to tell me what everything on the fucking ship does. I say we go back on the ship and find her.”
“I told you I already looked and she ain’t on board. Who knows where that crazy Quarsian went off to now.”
“She’s probably already kicking ass to get us off this hunk of ice”, says Jacob. “I say we go back on the Kharon and wait for her.”
Emma notices movement on the ice mounds close by and points towards them. “Did you guys see that?”
“See what?”
“I thought I saw movement on that mound over there and Sparky is starting to growl.” Suddenly an ice spear lands out of nowhere in front of them. They look to see where it came from with their weapons at the ready. Seemingly from the ice and snow itself emerges an arctic army pointing freeze guns and ice spears at them.
“Our little group or whatever we got going on here really needs to find a new routine”, says Emma.
Kharon Chapter 74
Simone and Kiarah surface on an icy shore. “They say no one has returned from the floating island”, says Simone stepping out of the Quarsian stinger.
“Then we will be the first”, Kiarah says as she walks into the snowy interior. Simone follows. As they travel they notice that the frozen mountains begin to take more and more of a defined shape. They begin to look like buildings in a city.
“Is it just me or is the landscape starting to change?”
“It appears that as we get closer to the interior they are carving the ice out to be living quarters.”
“Does that mean they expand the more ships they collect?”
“So it seems. Which would mean we will very likely run into inhabitants soon so be….” But before Kiarah can finish her sentence she is attacked by ice soldiers and taken by surprise as they could not be seen until they were on top of her. Because she is caught off guard she is knocked unconscious. Simone turns on her fire sword and the mere sight of it scares off the ice soldiers. Simone runs up to Kiarah to try and rouse her but she remains unconscious.
Kharon Chapter 75
Jacob, Emma, and Luke are being led down the road of an elaborate ice kingdom. The threesome are all in shackles made of ice. One of the guards carries a small case made of ice with Sparky inside. The group is brought to a large magnificent frozen castle. “Nice craftsmanship”, Jacob remarks admiring the arctic structure. Luke shoots him a dirty look.
The gang is then brought before the Ice King and Ice Queen who sit on ornately carved thrones of ice. “Here thee, here thee, you are granted an audience with the great and mighty King and Queen”, shouts one of the guards.
The Ice Queen outstretches her arms. “Welcome to our Place of Frost newcomers!”
“Your ship has been added to our glorious kingdom. Although there was some nasty play at first all is now forgiven and we would like to invite you to join our island nation”, sings the Ice King.
Jacob raises one eyebrow and holds up his shackled hands. “You’re sending out mixed signals.”
“Simply a precaution. Guards!”, bellows the Ice Queen. The guards approach and undo the shackles and let Sparky out of his cage.
“Well that’s a bit more hospitable.”
“What do you want with us?”, asks Luke.
“Nothing in particular. We float across this great ocean picking up strays. The more that join our nation the mightier we grow”, answers the Ice King.
“Forget it! We’re on our way to The Gardens”, states Luke.
“It does not exist. We are the closest you will find”, says the Ice Queen.
“I don’t believe that.”
“Believe what you want. It does not change the truth.”
“Maybe we should stay here since we know for a fact this place exists”, whispers Jacob.
“I know The Gardens exist!”, snaps Luke.
“We should probably add that if you don’t choose to stay here you will be terminated per our tradition”, says the Ice King.
“Well that’s a piece of information that certainly sways my mind”, says Jacob.
